Remove the No-Follow in your Blog

Credit every commenter and moderate spam
Today, I removed the rel=nofollow on comments here on ToolSoup. WordPress comes with the nofollow attribute attached and its there to (hypothetically) fight against spam. How? The search engines do not follow the links in the comments that have this attribute and not “count” the link so spammers get no benefit from spaming your blog with comments.
But it doesn’t really work because spammers will not get crawled but they will still get user clicks and more importantly, most bloggers already have anti-smap plugins like Akismet and they moderate all comments. So, why punish every commenter?! Why not give an incentive to your readers to contribute to your site by making their comments count.
How to turn of the “nofollow”? It depends on the platform that your blog or website is on but if you are using WordPress, then you can download the DoFollow Plugin that will remove the “nofollow” from your comments.
